Summer Travel Bucket List
Try a new activity. Find out what activities your local friends are into and give one of them a try. Whether it is glacier skiing in the Alps or scuba diving in Costa Rica, you may gain a lifelong passion, or at least some funny stories!
Go Camping. Cooking together over a fire and sleeping under the stars (or trying not to freeze in your tent) is a great way to bond with your friends, whilst seeing more of the local environment.
Learn the language. In an increasingly global world, learning a second language will benefit your career. Take a few classes, and spend some time talking with your local friends. No one expects you to become fluent in a new language in two months, but the effort will go a long way.
Try local cuisine. One of the best parts of living abroad is the delicious new food you get to try. Ask your local friends for the best places to get authentic local food!
Spend twenty-four hours with no internet or phone. In a media-saturated world, a whole day and night with no Netflix, Snapchat or Instagram probably sounds scary, however, disconnecting will give you a chance to fully connect to the place you are living in. Make sure you warn your mom that you will not be responding to her WhatsApp messages first though!
Stepping outside your comfort zone will help you to make memories, whilst becoming a more creative and adaptable person. Through being open to new experiences like these, you will ensure that your summer abroad is the adventure of your lifetime.
